I began writing this series over a year ago, because I have a great love for Jules Verne and his story, which I read as a child, then as a young adult, then later as an adult. I have written a version of his story as a motion picture screenplay, taking the adventure into a more special place...to me...where the heroes of the journey are seeking a kind of Shangri-La beneath the earth.
And isn't that what we all truly seek? A place that will accept us for what we are and bring peace and harmony into our lives.
My new story series though, it's quite another take, still with a strong spiritual center, but this time with the focus being on humanity's squandering of its resources and thus creating a backlash from someone deep inside our planet...or perhaps even a parallel world, we haven't gotten that far yet...but causing an earthquake of such a magnitude that all the major cities of the planet are shaken to pieces and quite literally billions die in the first hours of the world wide calamity.
The first part of the journey, which I have now published as Journey to the Center of the Earth: The Advent, takes us on a journey with a crack team of scientists, engineers and military personnel as they struggle to reach the center of our planet where another massive disruption is about to take place and destroy the upper planet completely!
Now as I continue my exploration of the complexity of my characters and their desperate needs to save our planet, we are dealing with monsters of another kind, the ones we all must face every day...our own fears, doubts and regrets. But the monsters inside the planet are real, so there's the physical monsters to deal with and the mental and emotional ones.
In many ways this series is an exploration of what is best in humanity and sigh, what is also the worst.
I've spent some time pondering the new cover, because I wanted to give an idea of how much rock and earth were around these people. And for some of us, maybe most, how claustrophohic that would be, if not downright terrifying! Hope you like it.
Below is a summary of my newest story in the series of Journey to the Center of the Earth, "The Mount Shasta Special Forces." Available now on Amazon and Smashwords for 99 cents.
The world above has lost contact with the Hollow Earth Special Forces. With the clock ticking down to an even greater earthquake, and one that could spell the end of all life on the surface or our planet, the world leaders decide to try again, but this time using the entrance found in Mount Shasta.
A team of specialists and volunteers join a military expedition to discover what truly caused the Big One that killed billions of people around the planet and destroyed most of the major cities.
While the new team is being readied to start its mission, the old team is still lost beneath the Earth, wondering if they will ever reach their goal or return home safely.
The clock is ticking and the fate of our world is in the hands of the brave and the few!
